Wanted

Release year: 2008 |||| IMDB Link:Wanted |||| IMDB Rating : 6.8/10 |||| Genre: Action | Crime | Thriller |||| My Rating: 6.0/10

Its a good watch provided your can control your basic common sense to start questioning the actions and stunts which are like Matrix yet not justified like it(fighting in mind or computer generated world etc). Movie flows good amount of adrenaline which action scenes go. If you watch this with innocent mind it gives a lesson as well that to active something way different from what you get everyday you need to go way different and challenge yourself and journey can be immense pain provided you charge yourself with what you are becoming and what the goal. A great watch for kids, and youths mostly who love action, thriller and crime (and frustrated yet hopeful and imaginative youths who love to spend a great deal of life in day dreaming where BELIEF is a more important than what you see immediately). In the language of the this movie last kind can be called as Fraternity of Day Dreamers.

First few lines which are spoken by the lead character of the movie, Wesley (James McAvoy);

It's my anorexic boss' birthday. This means there's a certain amount of inter-office pressure to stand around the conference table, eating crappy food and pretending to worship her. Acting for five minutes like Janice doesn't make all our lives miserable is the hardest work I'll do all day. My job title is account manager. I used to be called an account service representative, but a consultant told us we have to manage our clients, and to not service them. I have a girlfriend who I neither manage or service. That's my best friend Barry fucking her on an Ikea kitchen table I picked up for a really good price. I'm finding it hard to care about anything these days. In fact, the only thing I do care about is the fact that I can't care about anything. Seriously, it worries me. My name is Wesley Gibson. My dad walked out on my mom when I was seven days old. Sometimes I wonder if he ever looked into my baby blue eyes and asked himself "did I just father the most insignificant asshole of the twenty-first century"?

Another story revolves around the concerns which world started paying attention to, after 9/11 and its consequences; shown in a different way. A good mix of insights from personal life, emotions, love, relations and current emerging international terrorism concerns.

Movie shows following:
  • How rules are changed and to what extent, when purpose is important for a government or community. Both the government and the terrorist take their purposes seriously and gives you chance to wonder who is wrong!!!
  • Behind every person in whatever position or side he/she has a personal side and everyone has a not hero and not villain side, and also has a hero and villian side, government official, terrorist or other normal common man. I liked this most about this movie.
  • Movie doesn't have all good end and neither has a all bad end but it can make you ponder about certain things.
  • Everyone is not lucky at-least sometimes.
  • A question; who is good and who is bad and why when its all about purpose? And who suffers?
Good things:
  • Nice screen play and acting
  • Fine storyline which fits well for the movie time-line.
  • Two stories played in a parallel way which occurred in different time-lines and merged very nicely at the end.
  • Nice cinematography things look pretty real even if they are unrealistic

Bad things:
  • I didn't like the non-english dialogs being exchanged without subtitles.

I think its a nice watch and story is worth watching than telling.

District 9

Release year: 2009

In 1982, a massive star ship bearing a bedraggled alien population, nicknamed "The Prawns," appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa. Twenty-eight years later, the initial welcome by the human population has faded. The refugee camp where the aliens were located has deteriorated into a militarized ghetto called District 9, where they are confined and exploited in squalor. In 2010, the munitions corporation, Multi-National United, is contracted to forcibly evict the population with operative Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley) in charge. In this operation, Wikus is exposed to a strange alien chemical and must rely on the help of his only two new 'Prawn' friends.

Another Hollywood alien and extraterrestrial stuff with a difference. Following are differences and similarities.

Differences from prior alien movies are:
1. Aliens are good, neither friendly nor harmful.
2. Most of them are not very intelligent and genius, infact they appear quite stupid
3. Government is not worried about letting them stay and setting up slum area kind of colony for them.
4. They are not projected very powerful and destructive even though they have mass destruction weapons.
5. They have no charm in earth, neither winning it nor conducting any experiment, humans are shown more intelligent for the first time.
6. Local mafia has great connection with aliens and Govt. have no issues with it.
7. City of Johannesburg, South Africa is chosen this time unlike some US big city.
8. Govt. is not really worried about typical extraordinary health concerns which are generally shown in typical alien movies and govt. is not worries about the contaminations and non predictable problems that can cause weird diseases that can infect common people.
9. This not an intended arrival of aliens and this is no attack.
10. Aliens are harmless.
11. Aliens are treated as poor refugees and humans are more powerful.
12. Its somehow easy to communicate with aliens and they understand a lot but yet behave stupid like monkeys. You can show them documents and talk about licences and stuff like that.
13. They eventually like a food available in the market so survival is not an issue.
14. They kind of have emotions and they probably understand the meaning of promises.

Similarities:
1. They look weird yet they have two legs, two hands and head like human, they mostly look like mummies of Hollywood movie Mummy.
2. They have advances computer technologies.
3. They didn't have much problem in understanding human computers.
4. Some DNA related crap happens over an human.
5. Hidden experiments are happening over these creatures.
6. Their regeneration process is weird.

So essence is this another alien movie with some differences which can change perception of aliens, amongst kids and they may consider them friendly. Usual technology, fiction and action which might be liked by kids. I think its a good movie for kids probably below age 14. It has good enough reasons to hold an IMDB within 250 ranking, probably kids and some kiddish grown ups(like me) liked it.

He becomes famous just to find his girl. He finds him. But then what, thats a thrillar and how it happened is a mystry. Edward Norton, as usual a nice act and Jessika looks beautiful. Probabaly I would have learned magic for her. Anyways a nice watch.
